A Book Fair

A book fair is an exhibition that is organised so that book trade related companies can showcase and demonstrate their new products and services.

Some of the book trade fairs are open to the public, but others can only be attended by company representatives (members of the trade) and members of the press.

This leads to book fairs either being classified as "Public" or "Trade Only".

Costs that incur to book fair participants include

  • space rental,
  • design and construction of trade show displays,
  • telecommunications and networking,
  • travel,
  • accommodations,
  • promotional literature and items to give to attendees,
  • electrical costs,
  • booth cleaning,
  • internet services, and
  • material handling

If the book fair is held online, the events are called virtual tradeshows.

The virtual tradeshows are increasing popular due to having relatively lower costs and for no need to travel whether you are attending or exhibiting.

Some of the biggest book fairs include:

  • Bogotá International Book Fair, April 26, Bogotá, Colombia
  • Buenos Aires International Book Fair, April 24 - May 12, Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Cairo International Book Fair, January 24, Cairo, Egypt
  • Fiera internazionale del libro, May 5, Turin, Italy
  • Frankfurt Book Fair, October 4, Frankfurt, Germany
