Half Price Bookstores

Half Price bookstores is the largest independent, family-owned chain of new and used bookstores in the United States.

The company has a wide range of products available, as stated in the stores' original motto: "We buy and sell anything printed or recorded except yesterday's newspaper."

From the start, as a lead on the name of the chain, almost everything is half the publisher's price or less.

According to the company, their stock includes music and movies, collections of CDs, cassettes, LPs, videos and DVDs.

The company's headquarters are located in Dallas, Texas, while their stores are available in more than 100 stores in 15 states.

Dallas was also the site of the chain's first store, launched in 1972 in a former laundromat.

In addition to selling books, the Half Price Books company publishes some of the books it sells, inexpensively reprinting non-copyrighted titles or acquiring the U.S. or English language rights from another publisher.

These titles are published under its publishing arm, Hackberry Press.

The company's online store is located at www.halfpricebooks.com.
