Newberry Book Fair
The annual Newberry book fair provides a selection of more than 100,000 books.
The event has books from the trashy novels to rare out-of-print book, and offers most in bargain priced category for all kinds of readers during the last weekend of July each year. The event is held at the Newberry Library, and the first floor of the Library is transformed into a one-of-a-kind bookstore for duration of the Book Fair. Typically, there are more than 100,000 books available for the fair, all generously donated by local readers and friends of the Newberry. The books are sorted into 60+ categories and replenished continuously throughout the weekend to provide the best selection. The books include selections of cookbooks, children's books, and art books. The event takes place over four days in the final days of July. As for the cause, the funds raised from the Book Fair enable people to use the Library's collections and to enjoy their humanities programming for free. On top of the Book Fair, the Library will also host debates during the event days. The annual debates celebrate and continue the tradition of addressing the most controversial and pressing issues of the times.
