Strand Bookstore
The store, in fact, occupies some 55,000 square feet of space in it's location at Broadway at 12th Street, New York City. The store has over 200 employees to look after the grand space, with more than 2.5 million used, new and rare books available. The store has also a growing author events program, which is one of the reasons why the store is still going strong, having celebrated it's 80th birthday in 2007. Not only is the selection of books vast, but they also offer thousands of new titles at 50% off the cover price, as well as a wide variety of "front list" books ordered directly from the publisher and obtainable at 25% or more off the cover price. They also have one of New York's largest collections of art books, as one of their specialty areas.
